The rock and Roll stadium concert by bands such as U2 demand increasingly spectacular engineering to create the huge structures to fill the dreams of concert-goers in large stadiums around the world. Structures need to be dynamic, reliable and easily demounted to move on to the next venue. Since their early days with Pink Floyd to recent work at the London Olympics Atelier One have helped deliver these spectacular events with through by understanding the need of the artists and their designers but without compromising on the rigorous engineering approach. The talk will explore some of these projects and how this influences their teaching, research and approach to engineering in general.
