Whitby Wood is an engineering design and advisory consultancy. We are independent, international and lateral-thinking. We are part of an international group of companies, with 200+ people operating from headquarters in London and offices in UK, Italy, Serbia, India, UAE and Singapore.
Our approach to engineering design is based on a keen understanding of the importance of context, and the application of best practice — locally, nationally and internationally. We work hard to develop practical cost-effective design, for projects of all sizes.
Key ingredients in our approach are regular evaluation of processes, willingness to embrace and develop new technologies and materials, digital skills, research-based decision-making, a strong sense of societal and environmental responsibility, and confidence in the abilities of our team members.
Our company values — honesty, fairness, inclusivity, openness and practicality — foster a can-do attitude in our teams and a strong commitment to serving our clients. These values drive our work and our strategies for environmental and social impact.

Project Spotlight
Design District
On a one-hectare riverside site adjacent to the Millennium Dome, London’s first purpose-built design district is a central feature of Knight Dragon’s masterplan for Greenwich Peninsula. Knight Dragon commissioned eight architects to independently design 16 buildings in the pedestrianised district which includes courtyards and a public square.
The project demonstrates the value of a market for less-conventional office space. A durable and purpose-built neighbourhood, the Design District supports 1800 diverse creatives, a home for startups, flexible desk space, specialist workshops and studios, as well as entire buildings that function as brand headquarters. One building hosts a rooftop basketball court, another Damian Hirst sculptures on its facade. The central food court supports cultural activities and fosters a sense of community within the development.
The Design District supports new generations of workers and new ways of working, inspired by the very fabric of its unique buildings and their inter-relationships.
